Natural Ecological Treatment Systems

Cress Water provides a range of treatment systems to suit the strength of the polluting wastewater. Within the domestic market these range from those for cleaning grey water and surface water run-off, to those for treating the settled effluent (black water) from a septic tank. For stronger wastewaters, such as farm dirty water and dairy parlour washings, or those from fast food outlets, such as Motorway Service Areas, and other commercial and industrial enterprises, we use one of the more cost-effective combinations of submerged or biological aerated filter plants, waste stabilisation ponds, reed-beds and wetlands.

Cress Water's systems produce treated water of a quality superior to that produced by any other treatment method. The following standards can be consistently achieved:

BOD (Biochemical Oxygen Demand):
SS (Suspended Solids):
Ammoniacal Nitrogen:

<5.0 mg/l
<5.0 mg/l
<1.0 mg/l

Most of our systems, even those for grey water, require the use of a septic or settlement tank. They are usually designed to take the place of soakaway drains. However, in remote locations, especially where septic tanks cannot be emptied, we will treat either whole macerated sewage, or the solids and the sludge separately.

All our systems are individually designed to suit the type of waste water, the nature of the site, and the particular requirements of each client.
